This veterinarian would be seeking a calm, less hectic work environment as we run a very controlled and manageable schedule. Our current team of doctors are close, great friends and great colleagues. They share cases, enjoy social events together and are family.

MVP Institute Training Program

A no-experience-needed veterinary assistance training internship over 12-weeks

Aligned with Mainstay Veterinary Practice’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional veterinary care, we aim to fill a gap in the veterinary industry through our state-of-the-art veterinary assistant training program.

In line with our vision, we have established the MVP Institute, a platform tailored for individuals who possess a deep passion for animals and a thirst for knowledge, even in the absence of prior experience. Through a rigorous selection process, candidates are invited to interview for a 12-week internship program, designed to equip them with fundamental veterinary medical knowledge and practical experience, enabling them to advance their careers in the field.

The internship encompasses a comprehensive curriculum, blending classroom instruction with hands-on training. Through carefully structured modules, participants will acquire essential skills, including effective handling techniques, proficiency in radiology, expertise in phlebotomy, proficiency in laboratory procedures, and more.

Licensed Veterinary Technician

We are looking for an LVT to join our growing family! We are a small animal private veterinary hospital in Fairfax, Virginia with 5 doctors. We just moved into our new, state-of-the-art 14 exam room hospital in April 2023.

Our work atmosphere is generally calm and relaxed and we all get along great and love joking around and having fun while at work. We are team-oriented and are all cross-trained so everybody can help everyone out! We all answer phones, talk to clients, respond to emails and help each other out depending on the needs of the day.

We take pride in our family and low-stress atmosphere and our ability to practice quality medicine. The work-life balance at MVP is awesome! You have the option to work 5, 8-hour shifts or 4, 10-hour shifts if you prefer. We generally alternate Saturdays as a team with an average of 1 Saturday a month. We take pride in not overbooking our doctors or support staff so when your shift is over, you are out the door!

In a given day, an LVT at MVP will go in with appointments to get a history and TPR for the doctor and then perform any blood draws, treatments or diagnostics needed. The technicians also start the medical record notes. The technicians assist the doctors with cytology’s, in-house diagnostics, bloodwork interpretation and follow-ups as delegated. Our technicians collect specimens, perform routine laboratory procedures, dispense and administer medications, vaccines and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. They also place IV catheters and monitor hospitalized patients.

We are looking for a technician that is very comfortable with surgery and dental cleanings and monitoring and getting patients down and ready for the procedure. The doctors at MVP are as hands-off or hands-on as needed and they allow technicians to do as much as they feel comfortable and are trained to do.

A great fit for us would be an LVT that really enjoys getting to know clients and loves helping clients and patients through phone calls, emails, and appointments. We are looking for somebody that truly loves veterinary medicine and is looking for a long-term family among our own team, but also our clients and patients.
